Ghana: Soul to Soul 1971

Soul To Soul is the title of a documentary movie about the extraordinary March 6, 1971 concert in which a host of music and cultural icons traveled from the U.S. to Ghana, West Africa to take parting a 14-hour musical extravaganza celebrating there 14th anniversary of Ghana’s independence from British rule. Performers included Ike and Tina Turner, Les McCann, Eddie Harris, Roberta Flack, Santana, Willie Bobo, the Staple Singers, Voices of East Harlem, and Wilson Pickett. John Levy was along in his role as manager of Les, Eddie, and Roberta, and he shot hundreds of photos. Here is a large selection.
